The Copake Iron Works Visitor Center and Museum
The Copake Iron Works Visitor Center and Museum are open! Guided tours of the Museum are offered 2pm to 4pm on Saturdays, Sundays and holiday Mondays from Memorial Day through mid-November. The Visitor Center is open year-round during daylight hours. Find us at 35 Valley View Road in Copake. Our hours coincide with those of the Roeliff Jansen Historical Society, so visitors can make it a history doubleheader in Copake Falls, New York.
Not able to visit during our open hours? Take a self-guided walking tour of the Copake Iron Works Historic District anytime. Download the audio tour here or download a trail map here.
Does anyone know the name of the colorful rocks that were in display at the museum? I can’t seem to remember!
Thanks.
If it’s the blue ones you’re talking about, they’re called slag! They’re the leftovers of the whole process.
As a member of the Ft Crailo DAR, we would like to know if there are guided tours given….June 8, ’19.
We’d be happy to schedule a group tour for you. Contact Robin at 518-966-2730.
